Grandma Moses

Born in 1860, celebrated folk painter Grandma Moses lived to be 100 years old and didn’t start painting until she was almost 80 years old!  She originally sold her paintings for $2 to townspeople, a far cry from the $1.2 million her work won later in her career, and now her original country landscapes are considered such a prize that there’s even one hanging in the White House.  From a woman who’d seen the death of five babies and five grown children, plus the horrors of four wars, comes inspiriation to surprise yourself and the people around you.  Take the road less traveled!  Photo credit: benningtonmuseum.org
